Are Abortions a Sin?

First thoughts...  This will be a very short study... the answer is obvious!  Also see two other studies... "Age of Accountability" and "Do Infant Deaths go to Heaven".

Biblical References...

Matthew 5:21...
"You have heard that  the ancients were told, ‘You shall not murder,’ and ‘Whoever commits murder shall be answerable to the court.’"
Matthew 19:18...  "Then he *said to Him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not give false testimony;"
James 2:11...
"For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but do murder, you have become a violator of the Law. "

Discussion thoughts... We only mention 3 scriptures (all in the new testament)... there are many more references both in the old and new testament that tell it plainly that murder is a sin.

What About Rape, Adultery and Incest?... Rape, Adultery and Incest are sins, but that does not mean abortion is OK!  Remember the "old adage"... two wrongs does not make it right!  No matter how life is created, abortion is a sin!

My Beliefs... The bible talks very clearly about "Murder"... the bible is also very clear that life begins at conception... it is therefore quite obvious that abortion is "Murder" and that abortion therefore is a sin!
Consider these facts... if an unborn baby is aborted (murdered); or the baby is born and at age 2 or age 10 or whenever is killed by its mother; it is murder!
Another fact to keep in mind... the child who is created by rape or incest is completely innocent and obviously there is no reason to kill the child!  There is no reason to kill an innocent child because of a crime by someone else!

The "good news" is that even Murder is a forgivable sin (there is only one unforgivable sin... see our study "Is there an unpardonable sin", also see our study "How Do I Know If I Am Saved").  Abortion
(murder) is a "forgivable sin"... pray to our Lord asking for forgiveness and it will be forgiven!
