First thoughts...
In today's world we have become very familiar with term LGBTQ...
we know what it "indicates" but few people can get the letters in the
correct order, or tell you what the 5 letters
actually mean.
Biblical References...
Genesis 19:5...
"and
they called to Lot and said to him, “Where are the men who came to you tonight?
Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them.”
Leviticus 18:22... "You
shall not sleep with a male as one sleeps with a female; it is an abomination."
Leviticus 20:13... "If there
is a
man who sleeps with a male as those who sleep with a woman, both of them have
committed a detestable act; they must be put to death. They
have brought their own
deaths upon themselves."
Matthew 15:19-20...
"For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, acts
of adultery, other immoral
sexual acts, thefts, false testimonies, and slanderous
statements.
These are the things that defile the person ---"
Romans
1:26-27...
"For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women
exchanged natural relations for that which is contrary to nature, and
likewise the men, too, abandoned natural relations with women and burned in
their desire toward one another, males with males committing shameful acts and
receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error."
1st
Corinthians 6:9-11...
"Or
do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?
Do not be deceived; neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers,
nor homosexuals,
nor
thieves, nor the greedy,
nor those habitually drunk, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the
kingdom of God.
Such were
some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were
justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God."
Galatians 5:19-21...
"Now
the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: sexual immorality, impurity,
indecent behavior, 20idolatry,
witchcraft, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition,
dissensions, factions, 21envy,
drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as
I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the
kingdom of God."
Ephesians 5:3-5...
But
immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is
proper among saints; and there
must be no filthiness
and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of
thanks.
For this
you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who
is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
1st Timothy 1:8-10...
"But we
know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, realizing
the fact that law is not made for a righteous person but for those who are
lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and worldly,
for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for
the
sexually immoral, homosexuals, slave traders, liars, perjurers, and whatever
else is contrary to sound teaching".
Discussion thoughts...
Genesis 19:5
is very clear... men wanted to have "relations" with men.
Other biblical version use the word "know" instead of "relations"... the word
"know" was a commonly-used Hebrew euphemism for "sex". The men of Sodom
did not know that the two "men" who came to visit Lot were actually "angels"
sent from God to confirm the sins of Sodom. The "sins" of Sodom were
confirmed and the very next day God destroyed the city and the valley... just
this one verse is sufficient to tell us that homosexuality is a sin!
Leviticus 18:22...
no explanation needed, it says it like it is!
Leviticus
20:13...
this is really harsh... if a man sleeps with a male, they must be both put to
death!
Matthew 15:19-20...
directly from the words of Jesus... "immoral sexual acts"
(homosexuality) defile the person!
Romans 1:26-27, 1st Corinthians
6:9-11, Galatians 5:19-21, Ephesians 5:3-5 and 1st Timothy 1:8-10...
these biblical verse's are all very clear... persons engaging in homosexual
acts will not inherit the kingdom of God!!!
Biblical References
(used by LGBTQ people to justify their homosexuality)...
Genesis 2:18...
Then the Lord God
said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable
for him.”
Matthew 5:22...
"But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother
shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, ‘You
good-for-nothing,’ shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says,
‘You fool,’ shall be guilty enough
to go into
the fiery hell."
Matthew 19-6...
"So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has
joined together, let no man separate.”
Romans
8:38-39...
"For
I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor
things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, or any
other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1st
Corinthians 12:12-13...
For even as
the body is one and yet has
many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one
body, so also is Christ. For
by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks,
whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
Galatians 5:22-23...
But the
fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness,
self-control; against such things there is no law.
LGBTQ Reasoning discussion thoughts...
Genesis 2:18...
LGBTQ people quote only the first part of the verse (It is
not good for the man to be alone) but do not quote the second half of the same
verse about making him a suitable helper, nor do they quote the later part of
the chapter that describes how a woman was made to be his helper!
Matthew 5:22...
LGBTQ people use this verse to suggest that calling
homosexuals anti-gay "slurs" is not allowed... I would agree... BUT, that does
not make homosexuality OK!
Matthew 19:6...
LGBTQ people quote only verse six (suggesting that God
would join any two people together)... verse 5 says this... "For
this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and
the two shall become one flesh"...
reading the two verses together it is very clear that Jesus was talking only
about joining a man with a wife!
Romans
8:38-39... LGBTQ people use these verses to
point out that God loves all people (including LGBTQ people)... God loves all is
a very true fact... BUT, God's love does not condone sins of any kind... the
discussion above very clearly explains that homosexuality is a sin!
1st
Corinthians 12:12-13... LBGTQ people really
"reach" with logic using this verse... somehow they seem to imply that
"homosexual" is somehow included in the Jews, or Greeks, or slaves, or free
list.
Galatians 5:22-23...
This is a wonderful scripture that no one can argue with... BUT, again... this scriptures does not make it right to be a homosexual!
My Beliefs...
This was an easy study... verse after verse describes homosexuality and the fact
that those engaging in homosexuality will not inherit the kingdom of God!
The primary reasoning of the LGBTQ community (that homosexuality is O.K.) is
because
God loves everyone...
and He does love everyone, including homosexuals...
BUT,
that does not make it right to be a homosexual! Bible verses described
above make it very clear that homosexuality is a sin!
There
is good news... 1st Corinthians 6:9-11 explains clearly that homosexuality is a
"forgivable sin"!
Hopefully, all churches welcome homosexuals to attend their church... how else can
they learn that homosexuality is a forgivable sin! Whether of not they can
be church members would be determined by that church's discipline doctrine.
And,
a personal thought... as a Christian, we must follow God's commandments to love
one another. Realize that "loving" someone does not mean condoning what
they believe or do... one of my favorite scriptures discussing love is John
13:34... "Love one another. As I have loved you". Here are just a
few other scriptures dealing with "love" --- John 4:8, John 13:34, John
15:12-13, Romans 13:8, Leviticus 19:18 (Leviticus is probably the most
quoted wherein it says "love your neighbor as yourself)... there are many, many
more wonderful scriptures dealing with love... way too many to list here. |
