Do Infant Deaths go to Heaven? |
And what about stillbirths, aborted babies, and miscarriages? Biblical References... Psalms 139:13-16... "For You created my innermost parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, because I am awesomely and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, and skillfully formed in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my formless substance; and in Your book were written all the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them." 2nd Samuel 12:23... "But now he has died; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I am going to him, but he will not return to me.” Matthew 19:14... "But Jesus said, “Leave the children alone, and do not forbid them to come to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Luke 18:15-17... "Now they were bringing even their babies to Him so that He would touch them; but when the disciples saw it, they began rebuking them. But Jesus called for the little ones, saying, “Allow the children to come to Me, and do not forbid them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.” Psalm 51:5... "Behold, I was brought forth in guilt, and in sin my mother conceived me." Discussion thoughts... Will stillbirths, miscarriages, aborted babies and infant deaths go to Heaven? The short answer is YES! Psalms 139:13-16 clearly says that life begins at conception! So, in Gods eye it does not matter what happens to that life after conception up to the age of accountability (see our separate studies on "Age of Accountability" and "Are Abortions a Sin"). 2nd Samuel 12:23 implies that we will know our children in Heaven... David knew that he would know his infant son in heaven, even though he did not name, hold, feed, cloth, or even know the child. Matthew 19:14 and Luke 18:15-17 are clear indications that God loves infants and children! Matthew and Luke are very clear that "the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these". Psalms 51:5 causes some scholars to take the position that Adam's "original sin" has been passed down to all of us at birth and we are not redeemed until we repent. Other scholars take the position that Jesus death on the cross was payment for babies sin and for those who are incapable of understanding the difference between right and wrong. My Beliefs... This is one area of the bible that talks very clearly... God loves little children and certainly would not let anything stand in the way of them inheriting Paradise. From the moment of conception, up to their age of accountability, these innocent babies (just conceived, miscarriages, aborted, stillbirths) and children up to their age of accountability will enter the kingdom of God at both the 1st of 2nd resurrection (some at the 1st and some at the 2nd)!
