What age will we be in Heaven? |
Biblical References... 1st Corinthians 15:37-38... "and that which you sow, you do not sow the body which is to be, but a bare grain, perhaps of wheat or of something else. But God gives it a body just as He wished, and to each of the seeds a body of its own." 1st Corinthians 15:42-44... "So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body." 1st Corinthians 15:47-49... "The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven. As is the earthy one, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly one, so also are those who are heavenly. Just as we have borne the image of the earthy, we will also bear the image of the heavenly." Luke 24:39... "See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, because a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you plainly see that I have.” Revelation 21:4... "and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” Discussion thoughts... 1st Corinthians 15:37-38 makes it very clear that God will give us a body as he chooses! 1st Corinthians 15:42-44 clearly states we will be raised as spiritual bodies! 1st Corinthians 15:47-49 gives us the best indication of what we might expect... "we will wear the likeness of the Man from heaven"! Luke 24:39 when Jesus met with the disciples, after his resurrection, he had them touch his resurrected body... does this mean that we will be like his body in Heaven and that our body would be similar --- we don't know! The bible gives us clues but direct facts are missing... scholars have lots of ideas but again... no facts! People going to heaven will be of all ages, from conception to hundreds of years old. The most general consensus among scholars is that everyone will become Jesus's age when he ascended (33 years old... some say he was 30)... so babies would suddenly be 33 years old, and us 80 year olds would suddenly be 33... maybe! Some scholars say we would be "all" ages so that when we were talking with a friend we would be whatever age we were when we last talked with that friend on Earth (that seems ridiculous to me and they gave no clues why they predicted that). Revelation 21:4 tells it the best... we don't need to know details about how old we will be... the promises made by God are all we need to know!
