Scripture teaches the following: While awaiting bodily resurrection, believers are not invisible disembodied spirits, but are clothed in a heavenly form...
Luke 9:29-31... "And while He was praying, the appearance of His face became different, and His clothing became white and gleaming. And behold, two men were talking with Him; and they were Moses and Elijah, who, appearing in glory, were speaking of His departure, which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem."
Revelation 3:4-5...
"But you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their garments; and they will walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. All who are victorious will be clothed in white..."
Revelation 3:18...
"...Also buy white garments from me so you will not be shamed by your nakedness... "
Revelation 4:4...
"...They were all clothed in white..."
Revelation 6:11... "And a white robe was given to each of them; and they were told that they were to rest for a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers and sisters who were to be killed even as they had been, was completed also."
Revelation 7:9...
"After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all the tribes, peoples, and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands;"
Revelation 19:14...
"The armies of heaven, dressed in the finest of pure white linen... '
2Corinthians 5:1-8... "For we know that if our earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made by hands, eternal in the heavens. For indeed, in this tent we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven, since in fact after putting it on, we will not be found naked. For indeed, we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal will be swallowed up by life. Now He who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave us the Spirit as a pledge. Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord— for we walk by faith, not by sight— but we are of good courage and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.
Acts 10:30... "Cornelius said, “Four days ago to this hour, I was praying in my house during the ninth hour; and behold, a man stood before me in shining clothing," (some bible versions state "men in white").
Discussion thoughts... The bible says little about heavenly clothing (the bible talks about earthly clothing but little about heavenly clothing)... Luke 9 describes the time Jesus prayed with Peter, John and James... Jesus clothing turned dazzling white... Moses and Elijah appeared with Jesus in glorious splendor (possibly meaning similar clothing). Revelation 3:4, 3:18, 4:4, 6:11, 7:9 and 19:14 is quite descriptive about white robes given to those in the "end times", so "maybe" white robes is what everyone will wear. (I like what it says in Revelation 7:9... every nation and tribe and people and language... that should be broad enough to include us here in the United States of America). 2Corinthians describes our earthly body as an "earthly tent" and states that our "house in heaven" will be an eternal body made by God... what 2Corinthians says is a wonderful promise --- an eternal body made for us by God himself!
My beliefs... The scriptures quoted all seem to discuss white clothing... Revelation 7:9 seems to be rather definitive where apparently all believers were clothed in white robes! I am not going to spend much time on this study! It really makes no difference to me what I will be wearing, and I cannot imagine that any believer who arrives in Heaven via God's grace, will have any problems with their bodily form or clothing made by God!... what is important is living a life that results in the award of being in Heaven (Paradise)!
